Empire Classic Strongman recap:
Overall the meet went really well. Last heavy day was two weeks before and spent the remainder of the time doing some light complexes and a couple days of lift and sprints to up the conditioning a bit.
Events:
Deadlift: Pulled 500 from the 18” starting point and missed 550. Probably had 525 or so but the increments went up in 50lb jumps. Placed last in this event tied with 2 others.
Log press: Max reps in a minute. Ended up with 6 which was good for a 3rd place finish in the log. Started my comeback after placing last in the deadlift.
Farmers Carry: finished the 50ft run at 440lbs in 8.03 seconds. Good for 2nd place.
Power stairs: Finished in 21.2 seconds. Good for another 2nd place and again within a second of the first place finisher.
Stone over bar: Final event and was tied for second going into it. Completed 9 reps. Tied for 3rd in that event. The top 4 competitors got 11,10,9 and 9. I ended up in 4th place missing 3rd by a point and 2nd by 2.
05/09-05/23
For the next two weeks I will just be “exercising”. No real goal other than to keep things light, have fun and get a little break after the heavy training and competition. From there I will be training to increase my general strength while I look for my next competition. There seems to only be one other sanctioned comp within driving distance and its a national qualifier. The weights are heavier than I can handle right now so the general plan is to compete in the Empire Classic again next year and then compete in the Rainer Classic Pro Am. I’ll also be training in the garage from here on out, which I am very excited about.

1.5 mile morning (fasted) walk with 10lb weighted vest and the dogs.

Put my power rack together. Training in the garage officially begins tomorrow!

Power Clean: 5 x 3 @ 135.
Various Carries to finish.

Morning walk with vest (10lbs) and dogs.
